Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day

The Remembrance Day, also known as "Poppy day", is the day that commemorates the ending of the First World War by the signing of the Armistice Treaty in a railway carriage in Compiègne Forest on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month 1918. This day is observed in all the Commonwealth countries since 1919. The main countries are: Canada, USA, UK, Germany, Austria, Ukrain, France and Luxemburg. However this commemorative day is celebrated in many different ways in the non-european countries of the Commonwealth, for example in Italy this commemoration is on 4th November and people remember all the dead, not only the soldiers died in this war. The symbol of it is the red poppy.
